What to put on an invoice so it gets paid in 10 days
Most late payments are not about money. They are about an invoice that is hard to approve.

Invoicing
5 min read

An accounts payable team can only pay what it can match. Every missing detail sends your invoice to the back of the queue.
The five things AP looks for
The PO number or the name of the person who approved the work
Dates of the work, not just the invoice date
A line per project, not one lump sum
Clear payment terms and a due date
A way to pay that does not need a form
Send it when the work is fresh
Invoices sent within two days of the end of a period get paid faster than invoices sent at month end. A weekly or fortnightly rhythm beats a monthly one for most independents.
